Two bodies, two steps
The Australasian Veterinary Boards Council handles assessment of overseas qualifications. The state or territory veterinary board where you intend to work handles registration. You need both, in that order.
Assessment outcomes
- Accredited or recognised qualification. You proceed towards registration without the National Veterinary Examination.
- Qualification requiring examination. You complete the NVE, which includes written and practical components sat in stages.
